Will Go To Court Against PM Modi, Amit Shah Over MCC Violation: Congress

New Delhi: Raising questions over the alleged ‘silence of mega policeman’ viz. the Election Commission, the Congress on Sunday said it reserves the right to approach the court to seek action against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National Chief Amit Shah over alleged violation of the model code of conduct.

“We have a right to approach courts seeking action over model code violations… we can exercise that option… the mega policeman has turned a blind eye.” Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said at a press conference.

He further added that Modi and Amit Shah have repeatedly violated the poll conduct by trying to polarise votes, invoking armed forces in election campaigns and holding rallies on election day.

“The EC has taken action against several leaders for violating the code based on our complaints. We appreciate that. Since the precedent has been set, why not act against Modi and Shah?” questioned Singhvi.
