Weekend curfew ends in Delhi; restaurants, cinemas can reopen with 50% capacity

New- Delhi: The Delhi government on Thursday lifted the weekend curfew in the national capital, along with the odd-even rule for the shops.

Cinema halls and restaurants will be permitted to reopen with 50 per cent capacity, while guests at weddings will be capped at 200. Government offices will function at 50 per cent capacity. Educational institutions will remain closed.

Though there will be no weekend curfew, the 10 pm to 5 am night curfew stays.

Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal chaired the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting along with CM Arvind Kejriwal to take stock of the Covid-19 situation in the city.

Last week, the Delhi government allowed all private offices in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, outside of Containment Zones, to function with upto 50 per cent attendance.

Delhi reported 7,498 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, an increase from the 6,028 infections it saw on the previous day. The positivity rate, which is the proportion of total samples that return positive, stood at 10.5 per cent, according to Wednesday’s health bulletin.
