Wayanad: The death toll of the massive landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad district has hiked to 334, while over 274 people are still missing.
As many as 1,000 people have been rescued by the Indian army, while 220 people are still missing.
A massive rescue operation involving 1,200 officials from various defence, police, and fire service personnel, besides local volunteers, is currently on at the four worst-affected landslide areas of Wayanad.
Yesterday, four people were rescued alive under the debris of a house in Wayanad district of Kerala. The army rescuers on Friday found that the family, comprising two males and two females in Padavetti Kunnu area, which is remote and marooned area.
Meanwhile, the body of Odia doctor Bishnuprasad Chinnara shall reach Odisha today. However, search is still underway for Odia doctor Swadhin Panda. The body of the missing doctor Bishnuprasad Chinnara had been found in Kerala said Minister Suresh Pujari on July 31. Dr. Bishnuprasad Chinnara was a resident of Chodwar of Odisha’s Cuttack. According to sources, the ambulance carrying the body of the deceased has reached Vijayawada presently.
It is worth mentioning here that three massive landslides struck Wayanad district on Tuesday (July 30) following heavy rain. Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha villages in the district were the worst affected due to the natural disaster. Further search operation is underway.
