Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident an eleven year old boy fell into a 80 feet deep abandoned borewell in a Chhattisgarh village on last Friday. Operation to rescue the boy was initiated at about 4 pm on the same day. Today, after about 72 hours of continuous efforts by the rescue team, it has been hoped now that within a few hours Rahul is likely to be saved.

The victim has been identified as Rahul Sahu (11).

“An 11-year-old boy fell into a 80-feet deep abandoned borewell at a village in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district on Friday, an official said,” reported NDTV.

As per reports, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and state disaster response force (SDRF) have been engaged in the rescue operation.

Reportedly, the child fell into the abandoned borewell in the backyard of their house in Pihrid village.

A parallel pit is being dug with the help of a JCB for rescue of the boy. A team of doctors has also been deputed at the spot while arrangements have been made to provide oxygen inside the borewell.
