Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prakash Pant passes away in USA

Dehradun:  Senior BJP leader and Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prakash Pant passed away in the USA today. He was 58. Pant was undergoing treatment for lung ailment in the US, ANI reported.

Earlier, the BJP leader was undergoing treatment at a hospital at Rohini in Delhi but went to the US for further treatment.

According to a report, Pant fainted twice while reading his budget speech in the state assembly in February this year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to extend his condolences after the demise of Pant.

Anguished by the passing away of Uttarakhand’s Finance Minister Shri Prakash Pant. His organisational skills helped strengthen the BJP and administrative skills contributed to Uttarakhand’s progress. My thoughts are with his family and supporters. Om Shanti.

The Uttarakhand government declared three days state mourning after the death of Finance Minister Prakash Pant. It also declared one-day public holiday for tomorrow paying the respect to the departed leader.
