UP’s First Female Bar Council President Shot Dead In Agra
Agra: Uttar Pradesh Bar Council’s first female President Darvesh Yadav was shot dead in Agra Civil Court on Wednesday, allegedly by her own colleague named Manish Sharma.
As per reports, Sharma pumped three bullets at Darvesh and later shot himself. Both were rushed to Pushpanjali Hospital in Agra where the doctors declared Darvesh dead.
Her body has been sent for post-mortem while the condition of Sharma is said to be critical.
The incident took place at a welcoming ceremony at the Bar Council chamber when Sharma stood up and shot the Bar Council President.
Eyewitnesses said the two had heated argument in senior lawyer Arvind Mishra’s chamber when, in a fit of anger, Manish took his pistol and shot at Darvesh from point blank range.
Noteworthy, Darwesh Yadav was elected the Bar Council President on June 9 at Prayagraj (Allahabad)- becoming the first woman in Uttar Pradesh to hold the position. Interestingly, she had a very cordial relation with Manish Sharma, who was a colleague and an associate.
Meanwhile, the UP Bar Council has condemned the incident in the strongest of words. It has also announced a compensation of Rs. 50 lakh from the victim’s family.
