UP: Road accident victim dies as doctors found sleeping in Meerut hospital
A horrific case of medical negligence came to the light from UP after a victim died while the doctors kept sleeping in the hospital.
Meerut: In a sheer case of medical negligence, a road accident victim died on Monday, unattended by two doctors who were found to be sleeping. The incident happened at a government hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut.
The victim was identified as Sunil. He had sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the renowned government hospital.
Instead of attending to the accident victim, two junior doctors were found to be sleeping right beside the bleeding patient. Despite cries from the victim, the doctors kept sleeping.
A viral video of the incident is doing the rounds on the Internet and has raised an alarm on the medical negligence. The video shows the footage from the hospital’s emergency ward.
The duty in-charge doctor rushed to the spot on receiving the information and treated the patient. The Meerut District Magistrate was ordered to conduct a probe. Reportedly, the two junior doctors have been suspended.
