Union Minister Bhagwat Karad helps passenger mid-air
New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Finance Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad attended a medical emergency of a passenger on an IndiGo flight. The fellow passenger suffered from vasovagal syncope which lead to fainting. Union Minister Karad was travelling from Delhi to Mumbai on the same IndiGo flight number 6E 171 and administered medical aid on board.
Reportedly, approximately an hour after take-off, a passenger started complaining of uneasiness. The cabin crew immediately called out for a doctor on the flight following which Karad rushed to assist. He provided some primary medical assistance and also administered an injection that was available in the aircraft’s emergency kit.
Later, the patient felt better and the flight landed in Mumbai after about 45 minutes and the man was taken for further medical attention, added reports.
It is to be noted that Dr Bhagwat Karad is a pediatric surgeon by profession who studied in KEM hospital of Mumbai and later became a politician. He joined the Narendra Modi cabinet in July 2021 as minister of state for finance. He is a Rajya Sabha member of Parliament from Maharashtra.
Meanwhile appreciating the minister’s gesture, IndiGo tweeted, “Our heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation towards MoS for ministering to his duties non-stop! Dr Bhagwat Karad your voluntary support for helping out a fellow passenger is ever so inspiring.”
