First death in Ukraine from India: 21-yr-old medical student dies in Kharkhiv Shelling

New-Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday informed that an Indian student was killed in shelling in Ukraine’s Kharkiv today morning, confirmed the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Twitter.

The deceased indian student has been identified as Naveen Sekarappa, a resident of Karnataka. He was student in 4th year in Kharkiv national medical university.  

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it was in touch with the student’s family. “With profound sorrow we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family. We convey our deepest condolences to the family,” MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.

He further said that the foreign secretary is in touch with Russian and Ukraine ambassadors for urgent safe passage for Indian nationals who are stuck in Kharkiv and cities in other conflict zones.

Similar action is also being undertaken by our Ambassadors in Russia and Ukraine.
