Two earthquakes hit Ladakh within four hours
Ladakh rocked by 2 quakes in about 4 hours, Tremors of 5.5 and 4.3 magnitude were reported with no casualities or damage until now.
Leh: Two earthquakes hit the Union Territory of Ladakh within less than four hours on Thursday, with the first one, the stronger one, being 5.5 in magnitude and the second one being 4.3 in magnitude
The first 5.5-magnitude tremor hit Leh at approximately 6.05am
Nearly four hours later at around 09:54AM another 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck, according to the seismology department.
Residents in the quake-prone area remained concerned as back-to-back earthquakes struck the area.
No casualties or significant damage have been immediately reported as of now and the concerned authorities are keeping track on the ground level for any seismic activity.
The twin tremors have occurred within hours of the early morning quake of magnitude 5.5 centered in Leh region, also leaving no human casualties or any major property damage on arrival.
Based on available official data, it could not be ascertained that the second earthquake was an aftershock as a result.
