Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi Resigns From Rajya Sabha
New-Delhi: Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi on Thursday announced his resignation as Rajya Sabha MP as he feels suffocated. He is considered to be a close confidant of Mamata Banerjee, had served as the Minister for Railways in the UPA II government.
“I am resigning from the Rajya Sabha today. There is violence happening in my state [West Bengal]. We cannot speak anything here,”says Dinesh Trivedi during a debate on the Budget in Parliament on Friday.
“Grateful to my party that they’ve sent me here. I’m feeling suffocated that we’re not able to do anything over violence in the state. My soul tells me that if you can’t do anything sitting here, then you must resign. I will continue to work for people of West Bengal,” TMC MP Dinesh Trivedi said, adding that he will continue working for India and Bengal.

Trivedi also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for effectively leading the country during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Trivedi was nominated to the Rajya Sabha last year by his party, he was a Lok Sabha MP from Barrackpore but had lost the 2019 parliamentary election. He had served TMC party since 1998.
