Total Lockdown in Kerala for Next 2 Sundays, Check details

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Friday announced total lockdown will be imposed on January 23 and January 30.

The Kerala government have imposed total lockdown in the state in view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state. Only essential services will be allowed to operate today and the next Sunday.

Shops selling essential items such as milk, newspaper, fish, meat, fruits and vegetables and provisions are allowed to function from 7 am to 9 pm.

Most of the private vehicles were kept away from the road except for those who were traveling for emergency purposes and that too, after providing necessary documents proving the nature of the emergency to the police.

Restrictions will be imposed at the district level on the basis of the number of people admitted to hospitals and the Disaster Management Authority will divide the districts into three groups – A, B and C.

The announcement came a day after the state imposed fresh restrictions as a preventive measure to contain the rising number of Covid-19 cases.

Kerala had on Saturday reported 45,136 new positive cases, taking the total affected in the state to 55,74,702.
