Tirupati: Fire has broken out in the stationary train coaches of the Hisar express and Rayalaseema express at the Tirupati Railway station yard, reported Railway PRO.
According to the sources, A fire broke out in the stationary coaches of the Hisar express and Rayalaseema express at the Tirupati Railway station yard. The flame has spread to two coaches of both trains while they were stationed at the railway yard. Fire fighting operations are underway. Railway staff successfully detached the remaining coaches, preventing further damage.
No casualties were reported. Further details awaited.
Meanwhile a goods train carrying diesel caught fire near Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu on Sunday morning, leading to major disruptions in railway operations.
“Due to a fire incident near Tiruvallur, overhead power has been switched off as a safety measure. This has led to changes in train operations. Passengers are advised to check the latest updates before travel,” Southern Railway said in a statement.
Several trains, including those scheduled to depart from Dr MGR Chennai Central station, were cancelled or affected.
