Three-year-old boy killed by leopard before Rakshabandhan in Nashik

A three-year-old boy was attacked and killed by a leopard the night before Rakshabandhan leaving his six-year-old sister heartbroken.

Nashik: In a tragic incident, a three-year-old boy was attacked and killed by a leopard the night before Rakshabandhan leaving his six-year-old sister heartbroken in Nashik.

According to the reports, the incident happened in the Wadner Range area which is on the outskirts of Nashik city. The boy was playing outside his home at around 8:30 pm when the leopard attacked him.

His family did not know what had happened at first because he did not respond when his father called him. After a while the family started searching for him.

They reportedly found bloodstains in a nearby tomato field. The family and villagers then shouted his name again and searched the area carefully. Further, a villager informed the local fire department about the incident.

Forest officials sent a team of over ten people to help find the boy during the night. They used thermal cameras attached to drones to search in the dark.

At around 11:45 pm, the drone reportedly spotted the leopard in the sugarcane field which was about 1.5 kilometres from the boy’s house.

When the villagers rushed to the site, the leopard ran away. Following which, the boy’s body was found which serious injuries on his back.
