Srinagar: Three terrorists were killed in an encounter with a joint team of security forces in Hendew area of Jammu & Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday evening. An army jawan was also martyred in the gunfight.
Security sources identified the slain militants as Hizbul Mujahideen cadres.
Based on the intelligence inputs about the presence of some militants in Hendew village in the district, a gunfight broke out between militants and security forces after a joint team of Army and J&K police launched a cordon and search operation late afternoon in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected place, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, three militants were killed.
Sources said, another gunfight broke out between militants and forces in Kandi forests of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. More details awaited.
