Srinagar: Two unidentified terrorists were killed in during an encounter in Dragad area in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday, officials said. A Search operation is currently underway informed the J&K Police.
A gunfight had earlier broke out between the terrorists and security forces in the Dragad area.
“Encounter has started at Dragad area of Shopian. Police and Security Forces are on the job,” police said.
The gunfight started after a joint team of the police and the army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists.
As the security forces zeroed in on the spot where the terrorists were hiding they came under a heavy volume of fire that triggered the encounter. Further details about the incident is underway.
