Terrorists gun down another army soldier in J&K

Srinagar: Within 48 hours of Jammu and Kashmir Police’s encounter of 5 terrorists of dreaded  Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen groups during a search operation in Chowgam area of Qazigund on Saturday, the ultras killed an army soldier in Kulgam district today.

As per the report, heavily armed ultras barged into the martyred solider Mukhtar Ahmad Malik’s house at Churat at Kulgam and shot him dead.

Malik, who was working in territorial army was shot from the close range and died before being shifted to hospital, informed J&K police.

While no terrorist group has taken the responsibility of the attack, police have intensified search operation in and around Churat to nab the suspected ultras.

Notably, a bloody gun battle erupted between a group of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen on September 14 night, after the security forces launched a search operation for ultras in Chowgam, located 72 km away from Srinagar in South Kashmir district. The gun battle which continued throughout the night left at least five ultras dead till the morning next day.

The terrorists gunned down in Chowgam encounter were involved in a series of terror acts including killing of 2 bank employees and many policemen in past few months, informed police later.
