Tamil Nadu school turns Covid-19 hot spot, 31 students, 10 parents test positive

Chennai: At least 31 students and 10 parents from the same school tested positive for the novel virus Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu’s Andipatti .

According to the District Education Department, the cases have been reported from Theni Government Secondary School, Andipatti. Besides students,  10 parents have also tested positive for Covid-19. The District Education Department has temporarily closed the school.

The health department said students and parents from the school have been asked to isolate themselves. The health department is in process of contact tracing. The entire school has been sanitised by the district health officials.

On Friday, Tamil Nadu recorded  2,722 fresh coronavirus infections, pushing the tally to 34,96,321 till date.

On Tuesday, the Greater Chennai Corporation made masks compulsory in public areas amid a rise in Covid cases.
