Chennai: Gundar Dam, located near Sengottai and Courtallam in Tenkasi district, Tamil Nadu, began overflowing on Friday due to rising water levels following continuous rainfall over the past few days. News Agency ANI posted the video of the overflowing dam on X today.
Officials said incessant showers in the catchment areas pushed the reservoir to its full capacity, triggering a steady overflow.
The dam, a key water source for irrigation and drinking needs in the region, has seen increased inflow since monsoon activity intensified across the Western Ghats.
