Sushma Swaraj seeks report on kidnapping of two minor girls in Pak

New Delhi: India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has sought details on the kidnapping of two minor Hindu girls from Pakistan. Reportedly, they have been forcibly converted to Islam and also forced into marriage.

In a tweet, Sushma Swaraj, while tagging a media report about the incident, said she has asked the Indian High Commissioner in Pakistan to send a report on the matter.

According to the media report, the incident took place in Dharki town of Ghotki district in Sindh province on the eve of Holi.

Soon after the kidnapping, a video went viral in which a cleric was purportedly shown soleminising the Nikah (marriage) of the two girls.

In a separate video, the minor girls can be seen saying that they accepted Islam of their own free will.

Acting promtly, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered a probe into reports of abduction. Pakistan’s Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry informed that Khan has ordered the Sindh and Punjab governments to devise a joint action plan in light of the incident and to take concrete steps to prevent such incidents from happening again.
