Sushil Chandra appointed new Chief Election Commissioner

New Delhi: Sushil Chandra, the senior-most Election Commissioner has been appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner in the Election Commission of India, said a press note released by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India on Monday.

The President is pleased to appoint Shri Sushil Chandra as the CEC in the Election Commission of India, said the letter.

Chandra will assume the charge of office of the Chief Election Commissioner with effect from 13th April. Chandra will assume charge on April 13, a day after incumbent Sunil Arora demits office.
