Student from BITS Pilani Goa found dead, CM Pramod Sawant orders probe
A 20-year old student was found dead in his hostel room at BITS Pilani campus in South Goa on Thursday
Panaji: In a tragic incident, a 20-year old student was found dead in his hostel room at BITS Pilani campus in South Goa on Thursday.
The deceased student, identified as Rishi Nair from Bengaluru was found dead in his hostel room around 10.45 am.
After he did not respond to calls on his mobile phone, the door of his room was forced open by college authorities and found lying motionless on his bed. The exact cause of death is still being ascertained,” the official said.
Worth mentioning, it is the fifth such incident reported in the Goa campus since December 2024. The deceased students Students Atharv Desai (March 2025), Krishna Kasera (May 2025) and Kushagra Jain (August 2025) and Om Priyan Singh (December 2024), were found dead in their respective hostel rooms.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed that a committee has been formed under the collector to probe such incidents.
