New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday directed the political parties to keep the defence forces and the personnel out of their polling campaign. The ECI has reiterated its order before the 2014 elections.

The order comes soon after former Navy chief (Retired) Admiral L Ramdas asked the Election Commission to prevent the use of the Indian Armed Forces by political parties to influence the electorate during the campaign for the General Elections.

The move by Election Commission of India towards free and fair elections was commended by masses and classes alike.

Additionally, a total of 39 symbols were given an okay by the ECI.
