New Delhi: Sonia Gandhi will again head the Congress party as an interim measure. She had stepped down as Congress party President in December 2017.
Sonia Gandhi’s name was announced at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting.

The Congress Working Committee (CWC) — the highest decision-making body of the INC, finally accepted Rahul Gandhi’s resignation at its second meeting of the day.
The five party sub-groups unitedly proposed Rahul Gandhi’s name as party chief in the CWC meeting today. However, Rahul Gandhi was not ready to accept the proposal. And hence finally the name of Sonia Gandhi was named as the interim president of the party.
