New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Tuesday announced ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh to the next of kin of the DD News cameraman who was killed in a Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh.
According to an official statement, Rs 10 lakh would be given as ex-gratia by the Doordarshan while the rest Rs 5 lakh would be given from the Journalist Welfare Fund of the Press Information Bureau.
Sahu of Balangir district was killed and Sub-Inspector Rudra Pratap and Assistant Constable Mangalu were martyred earlier today in a Maoist ambush in Nilawaya village under the Aranpur police station of poll-bound Chhattisgarh.
The Doordarshan team was going to Dantewada for pre-election coverage in Chhattisgarh. The state Assembly election is scheduled to be held in the state next month.
