Shocking! Two men kill and cook python meat in Kerala, arrested
Acting on a tip off, two men were arrested by the forest department officials for cooking python meat in Kerala.
Kerala: In a shocking incident in Kerala, two men have been arrested for allegedly poaching a python and cooking its meat on September 10. A case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
Acting on a tip off, the forest officials arrested two men identified as Pramod and Bineesh in Panapuzha village in Kannur district of Kerala.
The Thaliparamba Forest Range Officer Suresh P said, “Two men, Pramod and Bineesh, arrested in for allegedly killing a python and cooking its meat. The accused, both locals, are accused of hunting down an adult python from a rubber plantation near their houses on 10th September. They then slaughtered the reptile and prepared a curry at Pramod’s residence. Acting on a tip-off, Thaliparamba Range Officer Suresh P and his team raided the house, seizing parts of the python and the cooked dish. A case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act.”
The incident happened on September 10. The two have been arrested after the forest department knocked down on them while they were eating the cooked meat of python and seized parts of the cooked reptile. A case has been registered against them as the python is a species in the Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
