Aligarh: In a shocking incident, a man was killed by his son-in-law and several others in a village in Uttar Pradesh for protesting against dowry demands by his daughters in-laws.
According to reports, the incident took place in a village in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh. The man allegedly received a phone call from his daughter that her in-laws are torturing her after three years of marriage for more dowry.
He immedaitely rushed there along with his family to rescue her. As the matter escalated, the families agreed upon holding a village panchayat to resolve the matter amicably. But during the proceedings things got out of hand and the son-in-law along with as many as 12 others attacked the man.
They used bricks and rods to injure him. Later the man succumbed to the injuries at the nearby local government hospital. The son-in-law has been identified as Sameer and the deceased man has been identified Nisar Khan. The police has arrested Sameer and as many as seven others. The statement of others present there is being recorded by the police.
