Seven Maoists killed in Odisha-Chhattisgarh border

Jagdalpur: Seven Maoists, including three female cadres, were killed in an encounter with security forces in the jungles of Odisha- Chhattisgarh border on Saturday evening.

Police recovered the bodies of killed Maoists. Seven weapons, including one Insas rifle and four .303 rifles, were also recovered from the spot.

Police also recovered other Maoist related objects including literature and explosives and wires used for IED blasts.

According to reports, the gunbattle, which lasted for over one hour, began at around 4 PM in the Tiriya forest in the bordering area of Chhattisgarh and Odisha.

Chhattisgarh police officials said, a joint team of District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force was sent on a search operation after a specific input that a large number of Maoists are present in the bordering area of Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
