Section 144 imposed in Mumbai from today amid Omicron scare, Check details

Mumbai: The prohibitory orders under Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) Section 144  have been imposed by Mumbai Police in Maharashtra’s capital in view of rising Covid-19 cases across the State.

Reportedly, the prohibitory orders will come into effect from today and will continue till January 7, 2022.

The Mumbai Police has prohibited the New Year’s celebrations, parties in any closed or open space including restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, resorts, and clubs during the same period.

The decision has been taken after Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray held a meeting with BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar and other health officials.

It is noteworthy of that Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded a spike in new COVID-19 cases at 3,900 with the daily count rising by 1,728 from a day before. Maharashtra recorded 85 fresh infections, the highest single-day tally by any state in the country of the new strain so far.
