Lucknow: In a shocking incident, a ride on Ferris wheel turned fatal for a 13-year-old girl as her scalp got ripped off after her hair got entangled in the swing’s rod in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place in a fair, which was annually hosted under the auspices of Shri Shri 1008 Swami Nityananda Seva Samiti, at Madhonagar in the Talgram about 150 kilometres from Lucknow, said police.
As seen in other fairs, there were many fun activities including fun rides on several types of swings. The Ferris wheels has always attracted a number of people of all ages who came to experience of the thrill of the ride.
However, if safety precautions were not maintained then it can prove deadly. This proved true in the case of the 13-year-old-girl who sat on the ferris wheel along with her friends of her village to enjoy the ride but left it bleeding and unconscious.
According to reports, the girl’s hair got stuck on the upper rod of the swing soon after the Ferris wheel started moving and she cried out in pain. The people along with her family members noticed it and rushed to stop the ferris wheel. However, by the time the swing came to a halt, her hair has completely entangled with the rod and her entire scalp had been ripped off. The girl was bleeding profusely from her severe wounds and had fainted.
Her family members rushed her to a nearby private hospital for treatment in Gursahaiganj. However, her condition worsened, so she was transferred to the PGI in Lucknow. According to the, the girl’s condition is critical.
Meanwhile, the sing owner has managed to escape from the spot after the incident.
Police is currently investigating the case.
