New Delhi: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who reportedly resigned from post today has reportedly landed in Ghaziabad, India. Following unrest in Bangladesh she had reportedly fled the country.
Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina has landed at Hindon Air Base in a C-130 transport aircraft, ANI reported in a X post on Monday.
The aircraft will be parked near the Indian Air Force’s C-17 and C-130J Super Hercules aircraft hangars. The aircraft movement was monitored by Indian Air Force and security agencies from its entry into Indian airspace to Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad: Sources, reported ANI in the same post.
Meanwhile Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman announced that an interim government will be formed to run the country.
In a televised address to the nation, General Waker-Uz-Zaman also urged the citizens to keep their trust in the Bangladesh Army, asserting that the defence forces will ensure peace in the coming days.
The Army chief also said that he will be meeting President Mohammed Shahabuddin soon.
Earlier, several reports indicated that Hasina left for a “safer place” after hundreds of protestors entered Gonobhaban – the official residence of the Prime Minister in Dhaka.
