Rahul Gandhi holds marathon meetings to pick 3 CMs

New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday held marathon meetings with several party leaders at his residence here to choose Chief Ministers for Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Gandhi held one-on-one meetings with the top contenders in Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot before taking a final call.

Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia, the front-runners for the post of Chief Minister in Madhya Pradesh also met the Congress President.

In Chhattisgarh, four names are doing the round including Lok Sabha MP Tamradhwaj Sahu, state party president Bhupesh Baghel, leader of opposition in the outgoing Assembly TS Singhdeo and senior leader Charandas Mahant.

The tense race for chief minister broke out after the grand old party won the three heartland states on Tuesday.

Yesterday, the newly elected MLAs of the states had passed a resolution urging Gandhi to take a final call on the names.
