Punjab CM accepts Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation, forwards to Governor

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday accepted Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation as State Minister. He has also forwarded Sidhu’s resignation to Governor of Punjab, Vijayender Pal Singh Badnore.

The cricketer-turned-politician took to Twitter on Sunday, making public his June 10 resignation letter addressed to then Congress chief, just four days after his portfolio was changed.

On June 6, the chief minister had divested Sidhu of the Local Government and Tourism and Cultural Affairs departments and allotted him the Power and New and Renewable Energy portfolio.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had disapproved of Sidhu hugging the Pakistan Army chief during his visit to the neighbouring country.
