Pune man accused of secretly filming wife, blackmailing her over dowry

A Pune man has been accused of secretly filming wife through hidden cameras, even while bathing and blackmailing her with those videos.

Pune: In a shocking case, a woman has accused her husband of secretly recording her through hidden cameras placed in their home, including the bathroom and using the footage to blackmail her.

According to the reports, the woman stated that after their marriage in 2020, her husband became increasingly suspicious and began subjecting her to regular physical and mental abuse.

To monitor her activities he allegedly placed hidden camera throughout the house and tracked her even while he was at work.

She further claimed that he used the private footage to threaten her and demanded Rs. 1.5lakh from her parents to repay his car and home loan.

The woman also alleged that her in-laws including her husband’s parent’s siblings and other relatives harassed her and pressured her to bring dowry in the form of cash and a car.

Both the woman and her husband are reportedly Class I government officers posted in Pune.

Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case against the husband and seven members of his family under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The charges include blackmail, cruelty, dowry harassment and breach of privacy.

Police are currently examining the surveillance devices and recovering footage as evidence. No arrests have been made so far. Additionally, authorities have said that further action will be taken after the investigation is complete.
