President Ram Nath Kovind confers Padma Awards 2019

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the Padma awards for 2019 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here today.  Kovind gave away the prestigious awards to 56 of the 112 inspiring personalities, who were selected for the awards by the Ministry of Home Affairs in January this year.

Bollywood ace choreographer and filmmaker Prabhu Deva has been conferred with the Padma Shri award for his contribution in the field of Art – Dance while actor Mohanlal Viswanathan has been awarded the Padma Bhushan for his contribution in the world of cinema.

Likewise, Music maestro Shankar Mahadevan has been awarded the Padma Shri.

Manoj Bajpayee, Shankar Mahadevan and Late Kader Khan are among the few names from the entertainment industry who were honoured the President for their works.

Kovind conferred the Padma Bhushan award (posthumous) upon veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar. His wife Bharti Nayar received the award.

Indian Kabaddi team’s captain Ajay Thakur and note percussionist Anandan Sivamani were conferred the Padma Shri award by the President.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia, table tennis player Sharath Kamal and grandmaster Harika Dronavalli and former foreign secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar were honoured with the Padma Shri award by the President.

President Ram Nath Kovind also conferred the Padma Bhushan award upon Sardar Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Hukumdev Narayan Yadav. Likewise, he honoured Malayalam actor Vishwanathan Mohanlal with the Padma Bhushan award.
