New Delhi: In a historic shift, the official dinner invitation for the G20 summit in Delhi bears the title “President of Bharat” instead of the conventional “President of India.” This remarkable change was initiated by President Droupadi Murmu, marking the first alteration of India’s nomenclature for an official event.
The invite, sent to heads of state attending the G20 summit, was met with enthusiastic responses from prominent figures across the nation.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami echoed the sentiment, tweeting, “It is a proud moment for every Indian to have ‘The President of Bharat’ written on the invitation card for the dinner to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan during the G20 Summit.” The change not only signifies a sense of national pride but also underscores the country’s cultural and historical significance.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma expressed his delight, saying, “REPUBLIC OF BHARAT – happy and proud that our civilization is marching ahead boldly towards AMRIT KAAL.” This alteration symbolizes a significant departure from the established nomenclature, marking a new era in India’s representation on the global stage.
This shift in nomenclature is expected to spark conversations and discussions about India’s identity, heritage, and evolving global role.
