PMUY Beneficiaries to Get Rs 300 DBT on First 4 Refills Per Year
Earlier, PMUY beneficiaries were getting DBT subsidy on up to 9 refills per year.
New Delhi: Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries will now receive a direct benefit transfer of Rs 300 per cylinder only on the first four refills each year, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas clarified. This was said by news Agency ANI in an X message today.
As per reports, the ministry said a typical Ujjwala household consumes about four refills annually on average. Earlier, PMUY beneficiaries were getting DBT subsidy on up to 9 refills per year.
The Rs 300 subsidy was announced to make LPG affordable for poor households. With the new cap, the annual subsidy per beneficiary will be Rs 1,200 instead of Rs 2,700 earlier.
The change aligns subsidy payouts with actual consumption patterns, the ministry noted, while ensuring support continues for core users of the scheme.
