PM Narendra Modi releases census data of 3,167 tigers

PM Narendra Modi released the census report of tigers, which stands at 3,167, representing an increase of 200 over the past five years.

Karnataka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the census report on the country’s tiger population. The number of tigers now stands at 3,167, representing an increase of 200 over the past five years. The information was made public by Modi at an event to mark the 50th anniversary of Project Tiger.

During “Amrit Kaal,” he will also unveil the government’s vision for tiger conservation and establish the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA).

IBCA will concentrate on the protection and conservation of seven significant global big cats: the Tiger, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Puma, Jaguar, and Cheetah, with a membership from the range of nations that are home to these species.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi went on a safari at Bandipur National Park in Karnataka on Sunday, travelled in an open jeep for one and a-half hours, and spotted tigers and other wild animals.
