PM Modi to inaugurate fertiliser plant, airport in Odisha tomorrow; Security beefed up

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch several projects including a fertiliser plant at Talcher and inauguration of Jharsuguda Airport in Odisha on Saturday, officials said.

The Prime Minister, during his one-day visit to the state, will dedicate the Garjanbahal open cast mines project of Mahanadi Coal Fields Limited (MCL) and 53.1 km long Jharsuguda-Sardega railway line of MCL in Sundargarh district to the people of Odisha.

Modi will also launch the commencement of coal production and transportation from the Dulanga coal mine of NTPC in Sundargarh district of the state. This is the second mine of the NTPC to be operational and its first in Odisha.

The fertilizer plant is being developed by Talcher Fertilizers Limited (TFL), a joint venture company of GAIL (India) Limited (GAIL), Coal India Limited (CIL), Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited (RCFL) and Fertilizer Corporation of India Limited (FCIL), at an estimated investment of Rs 13,000 crore, officials added.

In case of Jharsuguda airport, officials said, it has been developed for all weather operations including night operations for A-320 type aircraft. Jharsuguda will be the second airport of Odisha to become operational and provide connectivity to Bhubaneswar, Raipur and Ranchi under the government’s UDAN scheme.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the state capital, Talcher and Jharsuguda in view of Prime Minister’s visit to the state.

“As many as 50 platoons of police force will be deployed as a part of Modi’s security arrangement,” informed DIG of Police (Northern Range) Satya Brata Bhoi adding around 300 officers, including three of SP rank officers and thirty SPGs will be engaged during PM’s visit.
