PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi address election rallies in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday visited poll-bound Chhattisgarh to address election rallies and woo the voters for their respective party candidates.

The Prime Minister accused the Congress of backing urban Maoists who he said have ruined the lives of poor tribal youth.

Addressing an election rally at Jagdalpur, Modi said, “I want to ask the Congress why it supports the urban Maoists when the government takes action against them and come to Bastar and speak against Naxalism.”

“The urban Maoists who live in air conditioned homes in the cities, look clean and whose children study abroad, remote control the adivasi children in the Naxal dominated areas. Why is Congress supporting these Urban Maoists?” the saffron leader questioned.

The Prime Minister has said that his government is committed to the development of Chhattisgarh.

“I have come to Bastar to create the Chattisgarh of our source of inspiration and the state’s creator Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s dreams. I will not rest till his dream is fulfilled,” he said.

On the other hand, Congress President Rahul Gandhi criticized the Modi government’s demonetization move while addressing an election rally in Kanker today. He also held rallies of Rajnandgaon district later in the day.

“All of you were standing in long queues during Demonetisation but not one black money holder was seen. You have heard about Nirav Modi. That person meets Finance Minister before leaving for London. Lalit Modi, Anil Ambani have swindled your own money,” Gandhi said.

He was scheduled to release the Election Manifesto of Congress during the public meeting at Dongargarh.

Elections to the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly will be held in two phases on November 12 and November 20.
