PM Modi Launches Rs 75,000 Cr PM-KISAN Scheme At Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme worth Rs. 75,000 crore at Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur on Sunday. The PM also distributed the first installment of Rs 2,000 to over one crore farmers during his visit to Gorakhpur.

The Kisan scheme, launched to address agrarian distress, guarantees Rs 6,000 annually to farmers with less than 2 hectares of land, in three installments. PM Modi said the first installment of the cash transfer will be directly deposited to the bank accounts of farmers in the next few weeks.

He further informed that all the state governments have been instructed to submit the list of farmers in their states and the Centre will ensure that money is transferred to their respective bank accounts.

At Gorakhpur, the hometown of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of various developmental projects, before flying to Prayagraj (Allahabad) where he will take stock of arrangements at the Kumbh Mela. After this, the Prime Minister will fly back to New Delhi in the evening.
