PM Modi Flags 8 Trains Connecting Statue Of Unity With Different Parts Of Country

New-Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flagged off eight trains connecting different regions of the country with Kevadiya, home to the Statue of Unity in Gujarat via video-conferencing.

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal  were also present on this occassion.

During the programme, several other projects relating to the railways was also inaugurated and these include new station buildings of Kevadiya, Dabhoi and Chandod, Dadbhoi- Chandod broad gauge railway line, Chandod- Kevadiya broad gauge railway line and newly electrified Pratapnagar-Kevadiya section.

The trains are being inaugurated to boost tourism in the tribal region and facilitate connectivity to the world’s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity, which the PM inaugurated in October 2018.

The Ahmedabad-Kevadiya Jan Shatabdi Express, one of the eight trains, has been equipped with the ‘Vista-dome tourist coach’,the Railway ministry said. These coaches offer large viewing areas with rooftop glasses and seats for passengers.
