PM Modi condemns Akash Vijayvargiya’s bat attack on Govt official

New Delhi:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condemned party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya’s son Akash Vijayvargiya for attacking a government employee with a cricket bat in Indore on June 26.

Addressing the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting in Parliament here, PM Modi reportedly said, “Whoever it may be, whoever’s son he may be… such arrogance, misbehaviour cannot be tolerated. Such people should be sacked from the party “.

The Prime Minister also slammed party leaders for giving a rousing welcome to Akash Vijayvargiya after he was released from jail.

Though Prime Minister did not mention the name or incident, it was clearly a reference to BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya’s attack on a civic official during a demolition drive in Indore last week.

34-year-old Akask Vijayvargiya hit the news for thrashing an officer of Indore Municipal Corporation with a cricket bat. In the video that went viral on social media, the legislator could be seen thrashing the civic body officer with a cricket bat as many onlookers watched.

Akash Vijayvargiya was subsequently arrested and later granted bail. Upon coming out of jail, the saffron leader was greeted by celebratory firing at his office in Indore.

The MLA’s father Kailash Vijayvargiya is a BJP national general secretary and was in the meeting when Modi deplored the incident.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP Working President Jagat Prakash Nadda, other senior party leaders were also present.
