New Delhi: Prime Minister Namenda Modi on Tuesday announced a landmark increase in the remuneration for ASHA and Anganwadi workers. The new remuneration will be effective from next month.
The announcement came, when the Prime Minister was interacting with lakhs of Asha, Anganwadi and Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) workers, through video conference, across the country, as part of “Poshan-Maah” programme this morning.
Modi said, Anganwadi workers’ monthly allowance has been increased from 3000rupees to 4500 rupees and from 2250 to 3500 rupees. He added that the Anganwadi helpers’ allowance has been increased from 1500 rupees to 2200 rupees per month.
In addition, all ASHA workers and their helpers would be provided free insurance of 4 lakh rupees under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Prime Minister Suraksha Bima Yojana, the Prime Minister announced.
