Parliament’s monsoon session begins Monday; government lists five new bills
In the Monsoon Session, the Centre has 5 new Bills and two pending Bills on the agenda and did not have any law on delimitation.
New Delhi: The Monsoon session of Parliament will begin on Monday, and the government is expected to present five new Bills, besides putting to vote two legislations pending in both Houses of Parliament.
Prior to the commencing of the session, the Centre conducted an all-party meet in which political parties were requested to cooperate for smooth conduct of both Houses.
As per the provisional legislative agenda for the session, the new legislations are proposed to be the ones dealing with amendment of the income tax, micro, small and medium enterprises, regulation of foreign contribution, birth and death registration, and increasing the number of Supreme Court judges.
Significantly, the agenda also doesn’t include delimitation law which had been on the air that could be introduced during this Parliament session.
The absence of delimitation bill will bring temporary relief to several southern states, opposition parties raising the concern against delimitation.
During the session both the opposition and the government were ready to engage in debate on important issues like inflation, unemployment, national security and economic reform.
