Online recommendations and nominations for “Padma Awards 2023” are to be announced on the occasion of Republic Day, 2023. The nominations have opened on May 1, and are to remain open till 15th September, 2022.
The nominations for Padma Awards shall be received online only on the National Awards portal https://awards.gov.in, a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced in a statement.
The Padma Awards, namely include, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri award. These count among the highest civilian awards acknowledged in the country. Initiated in the year 1954, these Awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year.
The awards look for ‘works of distinction’ and are given away for exceptional services/achievement in all fields like Art, Literature and Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science and Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Service, Trade and Industry, etc. All people, irrespective of cast, creed, colour or religion are eligible to apply for the awards. Government employees working with PSUs, other than doctors and scientists, are not eligible for the awards.
