Order On Airport Shutdown In North India Withdrawn, Flight Services Resumed

New Delhi: The Centre’s order to shut down flight operations at eight airports across the northern states of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh has been withdrawn. Commercial operations have already resumed from some airports, including Jammu.

The shutdown order was issued a short while ago, after an escalation of hostilities with Pakistan. Commercial operations at Airports in Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Shimla, Kullu, Manali and Pathankot were stopped following the order.

The area has been put on high alert amid Pakistan’s warnings of retaliation after India’s fighter jets crossed the Line of Control yesterday and destroyed Jaish terror camps in PoK.

Following IAF’s airstrike on Tuesday, Pakistan started heavy shelling and firing from across the border and stopped flights from Islamabad and Lahore.

Earlier this morning, there were reports of Pakistani fighter jets violating Indian air space in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri sectors.

Pakistan also claimed it had shot down two jets of the Indian Air Force. However, the IAF denied the claim and said all pilots are accounted for.
