One more Omicron case detected in Gujarat, total tally mounts to 3 in country

Jamnagar: Another Omicron case has been detected in Gujarat taking the total case to three in the country. This was informed by the state health department.

“The first case of Omicron variant in Gujarat reported in Jamnagar. A person who came from Zimbabwe was infected with the variant. His sample has been sent to Pune,” news agency ANI quoted the Gujarat health department as saying.

It is to be noted here that this is the third case of the Omicron variant in the country. Earlier, two cases were reported from Karnataka.

Speaking about the detection of the third Omicron case of the country, Jamnagar municipal commissioner, Vijay Kharadi said that as many as three persons had returned to Jamnagar from Zimbabwe last week.

All of them underwent a test and the report of one of them turned out to be positive for the new variant of the Coronavirus while the reports of two other persons are pending.

Meanwhile, the man, who tested positive for Omicron is undergoing treatment at the state-run GG Hospital.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar held an urgent meeting for the Omicron variant with ACS, CoH & Health officials.

Kumar also urged all to observe the Covid appropriate behaviour and to get fully vaccinated.
