Odisha Fire Services team attacked in Meghalaya

Bhubaneswar: At least three members of Odisha Fire Services sustained injuries after some unidentified miscreants threw stones at the bus in which they were travelling near East Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya on Thursday night.

According to reports, the incident happened at around 9 PM last night when the Fire Services personnel were returning to their base camp in a bus from the East Jaintia Hills, where they have been engaged to assist in the search and rescue of the 15 labourers trapped in a flooded rat-hole coal mine.

In the attack, the side glass door of the bus was damaged and three personnel were injured.

On being informed, local police reached the spot and escorted the bus to their base camp, which is about 60km from the East Jaintia Hills, the reports added.

Notably, As many as 15 miners have bren trapped in a 370-foot-deep illegal coal mine in the Ksan area of Lumthari village in Meghalaya since December 13.
