Hyderabad: In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday arrested two men from Hyderabad for conspiring to carry out terror activities in India on the instructions of ISIS.

The two suspects who have arrested by the NIA have been identified as Mohammed Abdullah Basith (24), a resident of Hafeezbaba Nagar and Abdul Qhadeer (19), a resident of Chandrayangutta.

According to reports, the NIA arrested the duo after it received inputs of Basith’s association with ISIS operative Adnan Hassan.

Mohammed Abdullah and Abdul were arrested under Section 120B of IPC and 18, 18A and 18 B Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

The anti-terrorist agency had in 2016 arrested Sheikh Azhar ul Islam, Mohammed Farhan Shaikh and Adnan Hassan for identifying, motivating, radicalising, recruiting and training Indian Muslim youth on behalf of the proscribed outfit ISIS to carry out terror activities.

Huge cache of explosive material was recovered nearly a week ago from Basith, who was in the process of making bombs to carry out terror acts in India, a senior NIA officer said. He had been planning to flee to join ISIS in 2016 but failed to do so.

Basith and Qhadeer had been under NIA scanner for some time. During their trial, Sheikh Azhar ul Islam and Mohammed Farhan Shaikh pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment ny NIA Special Court, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi, while trial against accused Adnan Hassan is still going on.

After the 2016 module was busted, Basith had received over Rs 53,000 from UAE for recruiting and radicalising more youths towards ISIS ideology. NIA sleuths believe more evidence will emerge after interrogation of the accused.

NIA conducted searches at seven places on August 6 in Hyderabad City.

The incriminating material, meanwhile have been sent to Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Hyderabad for analysis and data extraction.

Further investigation in this connection is underway.
